Cat in the Hat Art

These great cats were done by my kindergarteners last week. Some of the pieces were from templates, the rest the cut on their own. This was the second "TLC" styled art project we have done. We created vehicles a week ago, but they were too big for my scanner. I hope to get some photos of them soon.
Template for the hat and cat face, sorry, I didn't bring home the bow, but I am sure you can fashion one easily.
Project tips:
I modeled for my students how to cut the white strips to fit the hat. The stripes were pre-cut 12" long. I pasted on one piece, turned the hat over and showed them how to trim the white stripe so that it was even with the edge of the hat. I have also shown them, in the past, how to hold a rectangle and a square to make it an oval or a circle. I remodeled cutting the corners of the shape to make it rounded. This helps to show them a second time. Some students came back and asked again...how to make circles.
The whiskers were also precut for them (for uniformity). They were 12" pieces and we talked about how long they should be.... and the placement.
You can see each Seuss is an individual. Some cut circles for noses, others triangles. Some added mouths others noses....
