My Puppy

Kitchen Mice

This booklet asks the students to predict what kind of pet the little boy has. The use of speech bubbles, quotation marks and question marks are part of the concepts being taught. The graphics are inviting and the text very predictable. This is a great poem by Doppelganger.
There are some great opportunities for lessons about descriptive words.

Here is some of the text:

I think mice are rather nice. Their talis are long and their faces small. They haven't any chins at all.I think mice are nice.
They skitter and squeak.
To each cheese is neat!
Yes! I think mice are nice!

What can my puppy do? This simple emergent story focus' on action words that students can relate to easily.
  • sit
  • jump
  • beg
  • run
  • lie down
  • fetch
Take a peek at these whinsical graphics. The mice are so adorable you'll just have to use them on your pocket chart for the week.

Here is the tale of five mice trapped in the kitchen when the family sits down to dine!
