What we have learned about frogs...and more...

We have just fininshed more than two weeks of studying about frogs and their environment. All the students wrote about what they learned. We plan to turn these stories into a slideshow to enter into our district Multimedia Faire.

Here are some of the great "pieces" the children have written. We took them through the whole process of Writer's Workshop.

Frogs have stripes on their stomachs.
Their eyes are like fire.

They can eat bugs.

Frogs can jump.
Frogs have big noses and big mouths.
Their eyes light up as fire.
Some are poisonous and some are football-sized.
Some frogs are green and some are orange.
I like frogs because they are different colors.
I like frogs.
They are football-sized.
They are brown.

They can jump up and down a lot.

They dive and swim and frogs are gentle.
Frogs have red eyes and they have yellow or red stripes.
They can camouflage in the forest.

If they didn't have camouflage their predators would eat them.

Frogs lay eggs in the water.
It takes a tadpole two year to become a frog.
I like frogs a lot. They can have lumpy skin.
Some can be tiny.
Their color can be leafy green. They all hibernate.
I like some frogs.
They are born in an egg.
It takes them about two years to become a frog.
My frog is big, big, big. It is fat.
My frog is fooball-sized.

I can not see my frog.
He jumped at me.
His name is Flake.
He has black spots.
He likes to run a lot.
I run, too. He likes to play with me.
