Humphrey the Lost Whale
Travel Buddy
Project

We are hoping you enjoy visiting
with Humphrey and learning about humpback whales…
The first Humphrey
spent several
weeks in the San Francisco delta in 1985. Our school is in the same county and
not too far from the actual scene.
A book was written about his adventures and
it is included in our package.
Again in 2007 A mother Humpback
whale and a female calf came up the Sacramento River, staying for almost three
weeks.
We have included a neat
Humpback whale (Humphrey), lesson plans for a whale unit (K-3), several other
neat whale books, and an additional list of books and videos that can be found
at your local library.
All of the
excitement can be accessed through the Humphrey web page for our travel buddy
adventure. You can keep track of Humphrey, and guide your class with more
information about whales. There is an extensive list of whale links to help you
find other activities. Also included is a list of interactive Internet
activities (web sites) about whales.
A list of host
classes (and hopefully a map) will be found on the web page so that you may
anticipate how soon Humphrey will make it to your
classroom.
Each class will have Humphrey with
them for about a month. This will give him enough time to get home before the
end of the school year.
We will keep
everyone up to date on Humphrey and his adventures…
